I know this article is quite old now, but I must thank you for sharing your idea anyway. I've been struggling with too high temperature for 10 years with this laptop. I managed to decrease it several times but the ultimate solution that finally fixed it was tightening the gap between the motherboard and the grip. I've installed an insulation tape (about 5 mm thick) and it is perfectly sealed now. And the temperature? Before this I reached 95°C playing games. Now, it is around 65-70°C. This is incredible. Thank you so much, you have saved my laptop!

Mine is also 9years old and still works great (i upgraded to SSD and cleaned and replaced the thermal paste) battery is still original

This laptop is a budget model and fairly good if u keep it in good running condition. My one is 9 years old and runs without any issues. I only had to replace a battery.

The problem is the GPU itself. This model and some other Dell laptops, the GPU is faulty due to die to package glue materials used. Eventually these laptops will die with a black screen and 8 beeps. Also the GPU heat sink design is horrible. The GPU heat sink is held in place only by a single screw. This doesn't give a good level to heatsink and die contact, creating an angled air gap.

I feel like they should at least show this level of care while assembling. I got a new Inspiron 14 and it runs hotter on idle than my previous laptop.

But thanks for the tips mate. I'll look into it. I'm kind of worried about losing my warranty, so I'll need t read up on that first.

As soon as I take out the <dav:metadatasource ..."=""/> and <dav:dataannotationsvalidator ...=""> tags then the

jqBootstrapValidation is not a function error disappears.

No, I have not tried to use update panel, and yes it brokes. After request the isvalid value of validator object becomes 'undefined' which makes validator to be valid all the time. Issue on codeplex was created and will be fixed when I'll get some free time.

This has been great so far, thanks for your efforts. I am having one strange issue, which I believe it related to not setting the type on the range validator. I have a state dropdown with int values, the max value on the Range attribute is set to int.MaxValue, and the only values that are valid are 1, 2, 10 - 21. This appears to be because the maximumvalue attribute on the validator ends up being 2147483647, the comparison working for only those values makes sense if the comparison is string (the default). Maybe you can test for the types in the Range attribute and set the Type member of the Range Validator. For now I can set the max to 99 and that will work for me.

Hi,
it is not possible to do this though attributes using existing impelentation. But it is possible to add custom script that will force validator to check its input control when input lost focus.

Thank you for creating such a great validation tool. I am studying the demo from codeplex. I notice that if I tab through a field that is required, I do not get an error message from the client. When I click submit at the bottom of the form, I get the error message. Is there a way to set the entity definition so the user is told immediately if they fail to make an entry in a required field rather than waiting until they submit the form for validation? And can the focus be returned to the filed that is required until a proper entry is provided?

Yes your change works fine, but only when MetadataSource is on the top level of controls hierarchy.
My fix was to move all property initialization logic to OnLoad method because OnInit has no postback data recovered, so it is not a right place to get controls and take their properties that are saved in ViewState. That was the cause - I tried to get values from ViewState while it was not restored.
I updated DAValidation both on codeplex and nuget so you are free to download fixed version.

it works perfectly.

Yes I made a really childish mistake putting all initialization in OnInit. I have already fixed this and will update version soon.

In your example, In AccountInformationEdit.ascx create a GridView control populate with dummy data. Run then press cancel button so it will do postback, then the GridView losses its viewstate data.

I could send to you the project so you could reproduce it if you like.
